  • French and Indian war

    French and Indian war
    The struggle occurring within the colonies Great Britain against France and that was known as the France and Indian war. The British got ahead in the war because of William Pitt. He led the troops very well. They were fighting because they both wanted the same land. The War occurred in 1754- 1763
  • Tea act

    Tea act
    The tea act is the last tax, it was on tea it was the last tax left from the 1767 town shed acts in 1173 parliament decided to passes the new tea act. That would help the British East Indian Company get out of debt the colonists were outraged and decided to boycott on tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    1773: The Boston tea party was an illegal act organized by the sons of liberty. The sons of liberty dressed up as Indians and went on three British ships filled with tons of tea boxes. They began to throw tons and tons of tea off the ships. The intolerable act was created to punish Boston in particular for their actions.

    1774: The intolerable acts were passed in 1774. In the intolerable acts it states that the Boston port will be closed until tea debt is paid off from after the boycott. It also said that the royal government will have more power then colonist. The colonists need permission to hold more than one town meeting. These laws made the colonist mad which led to protesting and rebellion

    1774: the first time All colonies gathered together they all sent delegates with the exception of Georgia to Philly. The Continental Congress DEMANDS repeal of intolerable acts. Each colony asked to train a militia. Each colony had there own militia to train the colonies had a substantial army

    1774: it extends Canadian border to the Ohio valley. The British took land from the bordering colonies many colinists got upset about that, so they rebelled.

    in 1775 Eathen Allen lead his militia from Vermont to attack fort Ticonderoga on Lake Champlain. He does a Surprise attack on the British. The surprise attack works!! The Americans got a lot of weapons from the attack on the British such as cannons, ammunition, and other weapons. American had an advantage with their new weapons in the war.

    On April 1775 Brittan organized for their troops to squash the colonial militia. General Gage Boson looked for an American stash of weapons, so he moves troops toward concord. The American minutemen were alerted by sons of liberty that the British were coming. The British were moving as well. The Minute men gather on Lexington town green to face the British.     Battle at Bunker Hill
    In 1775 10,000 American soldiers formed around Boston. They were trying to get a strong position against British troops in Boston. Sadly, the British won the battle, but at a huge cost. Over 1,000 British troops were killed or hurt. The loss of so many men slowed them down. The Americans drove British out of Boston

    Olive branch petition: In 1775 congress noticed its loyalty to King George III. The Constitutional congress asked for a ceasefire to try to solve the disagreements peacefully between the British. King George ignores the request. King George III declares colonies an open rebellion. It increased fighting and motivated Americans even more.

    In 1776 in the declaration Of Independence they talk about natural rights which are the rights you are born with which was thought up by john Locke, it states that all humans are equal. Also that government violates people rights, people have a right to rebel. On July 4th congress finally approved the declaration of Independence and the resolution for independence!

    In 1776 on December 31 the army enlistments expire. So Washington believes he needs a win for the men to reenlist. He plans to attack the hessian mercenaries on Christmas in Trenton NJ. The American troops have to cross the cold Delaware River at night and March many miles to Trenton. But it was all worth it. The Americans captured or killed all of them. Then Americans battle British at Princeton and get yet another victory. This gives the American troops hope, there for the men reenlist in the
  • African American Roles

    in 1777 the British told the African American people that if they came to British side they would be free after war. Of course, thousands do this. Washington, after hearing this makes the same offer to the African Americans. Before this Africans were not permitted to be in the war. Before that they may have served in militias or state army. After the Africans began fighting in the war Slavery began to phase out.

    In October 1777 Burgoyne made a plan to take control of the Hudson valley and leave knew England alone from other states then he will have the British troops move towards Albany from 3 different directions. Burgoyne’s Plan fails. Howe was ordered by king to attack Philly rather then going help the British troops in Albany. Americans go to Burgoyne’s troops in Albany. Him and his men surrendered to the Americans.
  • Forign Help

    In February 1778 U.S. and France sign an alliance which includes mainly loans but some military things as well. Some military leaders from Spain individually were willing to help the U.S. army. A Spaniard named Marquis de Lafayette became a high- ranking officer bellow Washington. A Spaniard named Friedrich von Steuben worked on drills with the U.S. army he taught them how to work together as a team.
