    Royal Proclamation of 1763 (The start of all the trouble)
    This was a bill signed by king George. It made it illegal for the colonists to settle to far west (can't go past the mountains.) This angered the colonists.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    This Bill was passed to indirectly tax the colonists. Taxing the items imported AT the docks, taxing anything with the British stamp on it.
  • Townshend taxes

    Townshend taxes
    The Townshend taxes were direct taxes on items like sugar, molasses, glass, and other household goods. these were a multitude of taxes, the first issued on the 7th of June, 1767. This was the main reason the Boston massacre occured. This is what started the riot in Boston.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    An event at Boston, where protesters were rioting about the townshend taxes. The rioters were harrassing a British soldier, who then proceeded to call for help. Seven others [Including their captain] all came to aid, The rioters started to throw things. One of the soldiers got knocked down by what is assumed to be a club. Upon getting back up, he fired without order. This caused the other seven to fire. Five killed (Including the riots leader, Attucks) and six wounded.

    An event where the Boston Colonists dressed up like the local Indians, borded three ships, and dumped about $17,000,000 worth of tea into the boston Harbour. There was three ships, about 150 colonists were involved.

    These acts were a good amount of laws passed on by the British in response to the Boston tea party. The five laws it was composed of were: Boston Port Bill(March 31st, 1774), Administration of Justice act(May 20th, 1774), Massachusettes government act(May 20th, 1774) Quartering Act(June 2nd, 1774), and the Quebec act(June 22nd).
  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    Lasted from the fifth of september, to the twenty-sixth of october in 1774. This took place in a building known as "Carpenter's Hall." This location was in Pennsylvania. The purpose of this meeting was to push forward democracy. It was some-what seceritive as it would have been considered illegal to the British.

    Was the battle that "started" the war. First shot of the war was fired, took place in the towns of lexington, concord, Lincoln, Menotomy (Present-day Arlington) and Cambridge.

    Took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania[ same place as the first.] shortly after the warfare in america started. It was a convention of delegates from all of the thirteen colonies.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    This was the bloodiest battle of the entire revolution. Took place on and around Breed's hill. It took place during the Siege of Boston.

    This piece of text was written by Thomas Paine that openly defied the British Government. It was the first document asking for independance from the British. It ws witten in plain and simple english so the major population of the colonies could read it(as the majority of them were un-educated.).

    This was the document that declared independance from the British empire. After this was signed, they were their own state. 53 Delegates signed this. (The most referrable being John Handcock for having the "best" signature on it.)
  • Battles of Saratoga.

    Battles of Saratoga.
    The second battle took place on October 9th, 1777. These battles ultimately decided the fate of the British general John Burgoyne. These were also considered the turning point in the war.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The last major battle occuring during the Battle of Yorktown. The american's won this battle, led by generally Washington.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    This treaty ENDED the war between America and the British.
