René Gerónimo Favaloro was born in 1923 in a humble house in the “El Mondongo” neighborhood of La Plata.

With just four years of age, Favaloro began to express his desire to be a "doctor."
Perhaps the reason was due to the fact that from time to time he spent a few days at the house of his medical uncle, with whom he had the opportunity to get to know the work at the doctor's office and on home visits up close; Or perhaps he simply had a vocation of service, typical of the medical profession. Thanks to her parents learned to value work and effort. -
In 1936, Favaloro entered the National University of La Plata, the Faculty of Medical Sciences, where he graduated in 1949.
He dedicated his life to the service and teaching of medicine. The fundamental fact of his professional training was the practicing in the Polyclinic Hospital. In the two years that he practically lived in the Hospital, Favaloro obtained an overview of all the pathologies and treatments but, above all, he learned to respect the sick. -
1949 Once received, he acceded to his first position. After a few months he moved to a town in La Pampa where, together with his brother, he created a health center.
After a few years, he traveled to the US where he developed the Baypass technique.
1971 he returned to Argentina where he created the Favaloro Foundation in 1975, leaving it as his legacy. -
In 2000, with the crisis situation in Argentina, the Favaloro Foundation contracted debts which it could not pay and requested help from the Government, which did not receive a response.
July 29, 2000 Favaloro commits suicide.
