What I remember most is my love of reading growing exponentially from 4th grade through middle school. I continue to enjoy reading for pleasure, not necessarily for the literary analysis.
-
The Velveteen Rabbit is my first book memory. I was given a gift set, a book and a beautiful puppet. I never really cared for the story, but I remember it fondly to this day.
-
I was so excited to be part of the 4th grade book club at Cottage Lake Elementary. My favorite book that we read that year was Sing Down the Moon.
-
I LOVED this book in 5th grade. I have tried to locate it for my own children, but could never find it at the library. I am committed to finding it again!
-
Do they even do that anymore? My sixth grade teacher would read a chapter every day after recess. Z for Zacharia, I could't wait for recess to end.
-
Series books were my favorite over summer break. I would read as many as I could get my hands on. Tribe Belden was my favorite, Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley High...
-
I remember my dad reading his Reader's Digest. He kept all the old copies in a basket by his recliner. I would curl up and read them all the time. They introduced me to new genres of writing.
-
Death of a Salesman, The Glass Menagerie, and The Great Gatsby.
-
Realized that not all reading is the same. If I ever needed to fall asleep, I could just open this text book! Seriously, I could not make it through an entire page. (Pic is generic)
-
I began teaching my kids to read when they were 3. They loved books and had more books than toys. They still love to read!
-
MiddleSex, Lovely Bones, Time Travelers Wife
I love reading, but strictly for pleasure. The classics were never really my favorites and analyzing the books felt like I was taking a test. -
I try to read over all of my breaks from class. This past summer I read The Girls, All the Light We Cannot See, Into the Water....
