  • House of Burgesses

    House of Burgesses
This was the start of the first little form of government. I was a house of representatives for the english colonists to encourage English Colonists to settle. They were founded by the Virginia Company. The first meeting was to ensure a minimum for tobacco.
They had a very big impact on the constitution as they first planted a seed for a separate government from England, and they were the ones that settled issues and made laws, eventually separating from English rule.
  • Mayflower Compact Signed

    Mayflower Compact Signed
A Document entailing separation from the Church, implying that the colonists wanted to practice christianity by themselves, not under the church. This is the first document entailing separation from English rule.

  • Rights Petition

    Rights Petition
This was a Petition made by Parliament to ensure that nobody goes to prison without justification of the accused. It also outlawed the stay of troops in a residential home without owners consent, and the passing of martial law, unless if country was at war. The Bill of Rights extended this Document for further fulfillment.
This was the start of all the major Documents and laws that would be implemented in the Constitution and our laws in modern society.
  • Fundamental Orders of Connecticut

    Fundamental Orders of Connecticut
This form was the official start of the constitution as it contains all the fundamentals that the constitution and the American Government as a whole. Soon after, each state and colony made their own two cents worth to it with Documents for limited government and electing official to carry out laws.
These Documents make separation of Government from England more eminent as they tear away from the orders and laws and start making their own.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
This is the official document birthed by all the previous documents involving independent government. This document (as the title entails) is the official statement by the colonies of independence from Britain. Although this document stated they were independent, talk is cheap. They still had some work to do to officially separate from britain so they could start setting in stone the laws, liberty, and equality of the common people.
This is the official mark of Government before the Constitution.
  • Articles of Confederation

    Articles of Confederation
As the title conveys, it was an article to appeal the theory of a confederate government. It gained approval over time and paved way for other events such as the peace treaty with Great Britain, the expansion of land past the Appalachian Mountains, and others.
As these events have impact on the Constitution, these articles of confederation started the pathway to accomplishing the events leading to the Ratification.
  • Constitution Convention

    Constitution Convention
This meeting was like the prof read before the final draft of the Constitution. This meeting featured delegates from multiple states to discuss their ideas on what fair laws to put in the Constitution so that everybody was in agreement and that government could run smoothly and efficiently.
This in effect was the groundwork of the Constitution as it entailed the drafting and proofing of that important document.
  • The Connecticut Compromise

    The Connecticut Compromise
This document was born from the Constitution Convention and would be used as a vital part the the Constitution. This document basically stated that there would be two sections of the legislative branch. It was to ensure that all states had equal participation in the making of laws and other important governmental matters.
As this is added to the constitution and ensures equality in all states involvement with government, it posses importance to the Ratification event as it is still valid today.
