    Queen Victoria was born on May 24, 1819, at Kensington Palace, London. Her father was Edward, duke of Kent, and her mother was Mary Louis Victoria(byers 485).
  • First Russian Revolt

    First Russian Revolt
    The Russians first revolt on December 14, 1825, was a total disaster for the people. Their numbers had been 3,000, but in order to stop the revolt, Czar sent out troops numbering 15,000. The five leaders were hanged, and all others exiled(Bressey 56).

    With the death of her uncle on June 20, 1837, almost a month after her birthday, Queen Victoria was the next and final person in direct line for the throne(Byers 486). She was just barely old enough to assume the trone without a guardian to control her actions.

    After her uncles death eight days before, Queen Victoria was coronated Queen of England June 28, 1838(Byers 486). This took place just over one month after her birthday(Daniels).

    The Underground Railroad was created by Quakers and other people who were against slavery to free slaves from the south. These runaways would be taken to the North, or to Canada. Every year they got around 1,200-1,300 slaves from the South every year(Bressey 113).

    After meeting her cousin Albert, Queen Victoria quickly fell in love with him, and slightly later they decided to get married(Byers 486). Although it was against the judgement of just about everybody else.

    The first telegraph sent on May 24, 1844, was sent from the Supeme Court to Baltimore. The message was, "What hath God wrought". This would be the beginning of the communication revolution(Zdock 27-8).

    During this particular potato famine, the Irish fields lost the nutrients neccesary to grow potatos. When they came out of the ground they were black and rotten, too bad for eating. At least 20% of the poulation either left going to America, or died(Zdrock 36-7).

    Queen Victoria, with the help of Prince Albert, declared war on Russia during the Franco-Prussian War(Byers 487). They won when the Russian goverment system collapsed, and later a new system was created.
  • Death of Albert

    Albert died on December 14, 1861 after traveling out in the snow in order to reprimand his son about his love affair with an actress(Daniels).Queen Victoria promptly fell into a depression and refused to go out in public. She refused to wear anything but black from that day on(the Royal Household).

    After nearly five years of fighting, the Civil War was ended on April 12, 1865. It had been one of the bloodiest wars in history. The North had won, and slavery would be outlawed(Doyle 70).
  • Became Empress of India

    Became Empress of India
    Queen Victoria became the first Empress of India on May 1, 1876 after the woman next in line to take over India didn't assume a position of power during her visit to England. This widened her empire to Asia as well as Europe(Victoria, Queen).
  • Theory of Disease

    Louis Pastiur's Theory of Disease proved how germs were spread through contact of objects. Tools wold now be cleaned after use, and hospital workers would wear masks and gloves. This led to better care of patients, and more lives saved(Doyle 163).
  • Golden Jubilee

    After fifty years of serving her country, Queen Victoria was able to celebate her Golden Jubilee, which the people of England were able to celebrate with fairs and dances(The Roal Household).
  • Diamond Jubilee

    Diamond Jubilee
    After serving her country for sixty years, Queen Victoria was able to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee(The Royal Household).Once again, the people celebrated with fairs and dances.

    ueen Victoria died of a stroke January 22, 1901 at the Osborne House, at the Isle of Wright(The Royal Household). Her last word was "Bertie", which was the nickname of her beloved eldest son(Byers 487).
