  • Dawes Act

    Susette La Flesche testified to congress to win the passage of this act which allowed Native Americans to claim reservation land and have citizen ship.
  • Shermen Antitrust act

    "To protect the consumers by preventing arrangements designed, or which tend, to advance the cost of the consumer" They also talked about if Trusts or companys violated the act. It was made so all the competition is fair and there are no monopolies or cartels.
  • Illinois Factory Act

    This act prohibited child labor, and womens work hours became less. Many people saw this and wanted to improve peoples behavior and lives through Prohibition by banning alcohol and saying that it was undermining american moral.
  • NACW

    The National Association of Colored Women was created because the women could not vote. Because of that they wanted to improve their lives at home. They wanted to improve the work place, food and drug laws.
  • Elkins Act

    Made railroad officials illigal to give or for shippers to recieve rebates for using particular railroads.The railroads cannot set rates without people knowing about it.
  • The Jungle

    The book is about the life of immigrants.But mainly people focused on the part of the book that talked about the horrible work conditions in meat packing plants and what actually happened. Sinclaire informed Theodore Roosevelt about this and he wanted to stop it he just needed the proof. Some of the things that happened are horrible for example: The meat would fall on the ground where rat poop is and they would still use the meat. The meat was infested with rats aswell.
  • 17th Amendment

    This let voters directly vote for sentators.
  • Clayton Antitrust Act

    This Act strengthened the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890. But also didn't let companies acquiring stock of another because then it would be considered a monopoly. If this happened then its officers can be arrested.
  • 19th amendment

    This Amendment let women vote. Women had picket lines around the white house because of all they did for this country, and the involvement they were in so Congress decided to pass the 19th amendment
