  • PLANKALKUL

    Plankalkul: This language was created in 1942 by Konrad Ruse. It was primarily made for engineering.
  • FORTRAN

    Fortran: Developed in 1957 by John Backus, mainly focused on Scientific computing and stood for Formula Translator
  • MATH-MATIC

    MATH-MATIC: Made in 1957 for the UNIVAC computer, it was designed by Remington Rand and used for math.
  • LISP

    Lisp: Made in 1958, by John McCarthy, it is used for AI and stands for list processing.
  • RPG

    RPG: created in 1959 for the purpose of business applications. It also stands for report program generator.
  • BASIC

    BASIC: Developed in 1964 by John G. Kemeny, Thomas E. Kurtz, showed that you could make an easy use programming language. It stands for Beginners' All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code.
  • LOGO

    LOGO: an education programming language made in 1967 by Bolt, Beranek and Newman.

    B: This language developed in 1969 was the work of Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie, in which they created a language that could be used for system development. It stands for BCPL
  • PASCAL

    PASCAL: Named after Blasie Pascal, this programming language developed by Niklaus Wirth used for general purpose. Made in 1970.
  • SQL

    SQL: It stands for Structured Query Language and is mainly used for database communication. It was developed in 1970 by Raymond Boyce and Donald Chamberlin.
  • ML

    ML: Sometimes called “Meta Language” it was developed in 1973 by Robin Milner and was used for program language research.
  • ADA

    ADA: Developed in 1980 by Jean Ichbiah, S. Tucker Taft and used mainly for application development. It was named after Augusta Ada King.
  • PYTHON

    Python: first created in 1991 by Guido van Rossum, this programming language is a general purpose program. It is also used in machine learning.
  • VISUAL BASIC

    Visual Basic: This programming language, which is microsofts was developed in 1991, and is a beginner easy to use language.
  • PHP

    PHP: Created by The PHP Development Team, and Zend Technologies, this language was mainly used for web development and was created in 1994. It stands for Hypertext Preprocessor.
  • DELPHI

    Delphi: Developed in 1995 by Anders Hejlsberg, Delphi was an application development language.
  • Javascript

    Javascript: Designed by Brendan Eich, it allowed the user to make websites. It was developed in 1995.

    Java: Developed in 1996 by James Gosling, it became a tool for application development. Named after coffee
  • COBOL

    COBOL: This language created in 2002, primarily focused on business use. It was made by Howard Bromberg, Norman Discount, Vernon Reeves, Jean E. Sammet, William Selden, Gertrude Tierney, and stood for common business-oriented language

    C++ This language which was created in 2017, was a general purpose program created by Bjarne Stroustrup. It is also known as “C with Classes”
