    Acronym: Formula Translation System
  • MATH-MATIC

    Purpose: Improvement of FORTRAN
  • Lisp

    Authors: John McCarthy, Steve Russell, Timothy Hart
    Purpose: A general-purpose language, and the second oldest high-level programming language right after FORTRAN
  • COBOL

    Author: Grace Hopper, William Selden, Gertrude Tierney, Howard Bromberg, Howard Discount, Vernon Reeves, Jean E. Sammet
    Purpose: Compipled computer language mostly used in business
    Acronym: COmmon Business-Oriented Language
  • RPG

    Author: IBM
    Purpose: Used as a tool to replicate punched card processing
    Acronym: Report Program Generator
  • BASIC

    Authors: John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz
    Purpose: Used as a high-level programming language, designed to be easy to use
    Acronym: Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code
  • LOGO

    Authors: Daniel G. Bobrow, Wally Feurzeig, Seymour Papert, Cynthia Solomon
    Purpose: Used as an educational programming language.
    Acronym: Logic Oriented Graphic Oriented

    Authors: Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie
    Purpose: Used for machine independent applications, such as system and language software.
    Acronym: B was derived from BCPL

    Author: Dennis Ritchie
    Purpose: Mostly the only difference from B is it uses structured programming
    Acronym (not really): It was a successor to B

    Purpose: Used as a general-purpose programming language
    Acronym: Metalanguage

    Authors: Donald Chamberlin, Raymond Boyce
    Purpose: A programming language designed for managing data in a database management system
    Acronym: Structured Query Language

    Author: Jean Ichbiah
    Purpose: Used as an object-oriented and high-level computer programming language, it was mostly based off of PASCAL

    Author: Alan Cooper
    Purpose: Can be used to create any program in most any other language, but must support .NET framework.
  • Python

    Author: Guido van Rossum
    Purpose: Used as a general-purpose, high-level programming language. Its design improves on code readability so fewer lines of code can be used.
  • JavaScript

    Author: Brendan Eich
    Purpose: Improves interactivity with web pages, mostly used for validations and can create popups.
  • Delphi

    Author: Embarcadero Technologies Borland
    Purpose: It integrates a developmental environment for console, desktop graphical, web, and mobile applications.

    Purpose: Used with a highly-interactive user interface, and a cached system where you don;t need to reconnect back to the web server if you alrealy have downloaded info

    Purpose: Designed for web development
    Acronym: Personal HomePage
