    The first Continental Congress was a group of representatives from each colony, except for Georgia, that met in Philadelphia. They didn’t advocate independence, but right the wrongs that were against the colonies. They gathered to discuss the British “Intolerable Acts,” They had three goals: to compose a statement of colonial rights, to identify the British parliaments violations of those rights, and to provide a plan to restore those rights. They decided to boycott British goods all together.

    In April, the governor of Massachusetts, Governor Gage is ordered to start open rebellion on the colonists. On April, 17 1775, General Gage ordered 700 British soldiers to destroy the colonist’s weapons depot in Concord. Paul Revere made a ride out to Lexington to warn the colonists that the British were coming.

    The fights at Lexington and Concord ignited the Revolutionary War between the American Colonies and Britain. Before the Americans attacked the British many different Laws were set towards the Colonies didnt like. The Stamp Act was passed as well as the Currency Act. The Boston Tea Party happened in 1773, when the Americans destroyed the British tea. The war went on for eight years ending when the Treaty of Paris was made. This gave the Americans independence and the land they wanted. TroyM24
