    Abraham Lincoln was President during the Civil War and won for the Union. He issued the Emancipation Proclamtion during war. He also freed all slaves at the end of the war.
  • Andrew Johnson

    Andrew Johnson
    Andrew Johnson vetoed the Civil Rights Act, which forbaded discrimination against blacks. He was the first President to be impeached and did not get removed from office. He also vetoed the Freedmans's Bureau, which would help out former slaves.
  • Ulysses S. Grant

    Ulysses S. Grant
    Ulysses S. Grant became President and sold gold to try and stop his speculators to cornering gold. He was all for the African Americans and help to get them their votes and freedom with their equal rights. Re-elected the next term.
  • Rutherford B. Hayes

    Rutherford B. Hayes
    Rutherford B, Hayes was a President that wanted a meritocratic government, which means he wanted equality. He also vetoed the Bland-Allsion Act. His policy toward the Indians had been a start to the Dawes Act.
  • Chester A. Arthur

    Signed the Pendleton Act, which estalished rules and regulations on who can be hired in the federal government. He tried to lower tarriff rates, so the government would not be embarrassed by annual surpluses. Enacted the Federal Immagration Law, which did not allow criminals of Chinese.

    Vetoed a bill that would allow disabled veterans pension that got disabled by a non militarty service. Sent ferderal troops to the railroad strikers and lost some of his respect. Forced Great Britain to accept arbitration of a disputed boundary in Venezuela

    He had passed the Sherman Antitrust Act. He also had passed the Silver Sherman Purchase Act. He also had taken off the tarriffs from imported raw sugars and sugar growers in the U.S.

    Signed to annexing the Republic of Hawaii to the U.S. In the Civil Sercive administration he reformed the system to make it more felxible in critical areas. During his presidency the U.S. was officially placed on the gold standard.

    Theodore was man of the wilderness and he extended forests. He also ensured the construction of the Panama Canal. He also won the Noble Peace Prize for mediating the Russo-Japanese War.

    HE passed the 19th amendment, giving women the right ot vote. The Federal Reserved system was established. WWI broke out in Europe in 1914.
