Washington
When the new Constitution was ratified, the Electoral College unanimously elected Washington President. He was the first president of the U.S. to be Inaugurated when the new Constitution was ratified. He ended is term in 1797. -
Adams
The U.S second president and he was more remarkable as a political philosopher than as a politician. John Adams signed the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798. These pieces of legislation were unpopular because they limited free speech and dissent.Adams was commissioner to France in 1778 and in 1782 and 1783, he helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris which ended the American War of Independence. He had foreign issues with Tripoli wanting to declare war on america, but came with a peace treaty in June 4th .
