Jimmy Carter 1977-1981
While Jimmy Carter was president some issues had arrived,
One was the Camp David Accords, in September 17th, 1978 he had gotten a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt.
After Carter became president the economy began to fall apart, there was a major gas shortage to where people would have to wait for hours just to get a litte but of gas. -
Ronald Reagan 1981-1989
After Reagan became president he had lowered taxes to be able to increase military spending instead, so the militay was able to get the tool and supplies they needed.
Also during his time period he proposed what was called SDI which was a Strategic Defense Initiative, to use ground based and space based systems to protect the United States from attacks by nuclear missiles.
In 1986 the Iran contra affair Reagan was caught selling weapons to Iran and making the soliders fight communist. -
George H.W. Bush 1989-1993
Bush declared that there would be no new taxes, which made the people happy,
Also had helped many people with disabilities.
On August 2nd, 1990 Iraq invaded into the South, and with fear that they would come attack us next Bush rejected any iraqi forces. -
Bill Clinton 1993- 2001
Clinton helped economic struggles, unemployment, the runaway deficit, and the health care crisis, and congress passed a sweeping reform bill to end welfare, also increases the minimum wage to $5. 15 per hour
NAFTA was the North America Free Trade Agreement, stating that North America can trade between other countries with no fee.
Bill Clinton was the first president to actually balance out the Federal budget so what they would take out would be put back in. No debts. -
George W Bush 2001-2009
Bush Signed a tax cutting bill. He also tried to support and strengthen public education so more people were able to have the schooling they needed. And made sure Iran did not gain nuclear weapons. But he did try to make Iran democratic. -
Barack Obama 2009- prresent
Once Barack Obama became president,
Major economic crisis like Unemployment rate, lead banks to close due to collapsing. Negotiation of nuclear arms with Russia.
Obama was able to end the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy.
Osama Bin Laden was finally captured and killed after so many years of searching, The world is more at peace with things now.
