When the Steelers were founded by Art Rooney in 1933, they began playing at Forbse Field. They played at Forbse Field from 1933 till 1958. The stadium could seat 41,000 people and was natural grass. (The stadium was demolished in 1971).

From 1958 to 1963 the Steelers split their time between Forbes Field and Pitt Stadium.

From 1964 to 1969, the Steelers played at University of Pittsburgh Panthers football field full time. The stadium had a seating capacity of 56,150. When the Steelers played here it was natural grass.

The Steelers played at Three Rivers Stadium from 1970 to 2000. Three Rivers Stadium was designed for both football and baseball. It could seat 59,600 people. It featured a Tartan Turf/Astro Turf surface. (The stadium was demolished in 2001)

The Steelers won Super Bowl IX in 1975. They beat the Minnesota Vikings 16 to 6. This was also the Steelers first Super Bowl win.

The Steelers won their second Super Bowl in 1976. They defeated the Dallas Cowboys 21 to 17.

The Steelers won their third Super Bowl in 1979. They were the champions when they played against the Dallas Cowboys for the second time in the Super Bowl. They defeated the Dallas Cowboys 35 to 31.

The Steelers won their 4th Super Bowl in 1980 when they defeated the Los Angeles Rams. The Steelers won 31 to 19.

The Steelers started playing at Heinz Field in 2001. The stadium can seat 68,400 people. It features a natural grass surface.
