Select Dissertation Chair; She/he becomes your new advisor. Complete by the end of second semester of coursework.

Select Graduate Faculty To Sit On Disseration Committee (your dissertation chair can help recommend members based on your area of research).

Develop Preliminary Program in consultation with your Chair and Dissertation Committee

File preliminary program initialed by all Dissertation Committee members.

Complete coursework

File Final Course Program

Write Comprehensive Examination (the 'Writtens')

Complete Comprehensive Oral Examination (the 'Orals')

Doctoral Dissertation Proposal approved by Dissertation Committee.

Draft of Dissertation submitted to the Graduate School.

Degree Application filed with Graduate School at time of registration for last semester.

Arrange final examination (dissertation defense) and submit the Doctoral Examination form. Note the Graduate School deadlines for graduation.

Submit final copies of dissertation to the Graduate School and library.
