    Right after west point, Beauregard served as an engineer under General Winfield scott. He was wounded in the shoulder and thigh. He was the first officer (captain) to enter Mexico city. Comes home in 1848.

    Beauregard became the first confederate general officer, appointed a brigadier general in the provisional army of the confederate states. moths later he was promoted making him the top 5th ranked senior general.

    He arrived in Charleston to examine bay. Discovered Major Robert Anderson, (Beauregards former professor from westpoint), was the opposing side trying to take over the fort. Beauregard tried sending gifts, negotiating with his former friend but Anderson refused. Shots were fired April 12th. lasted 36 hours

    Beauregard is appointed Commanding officer, of the "Alexandria line", where he went against the Union. The line held them off while Beauregard rode with the men, providing inspirational speeches. He played a great role in the confederate victory.
  • Shiloh and Corinth

    Beauregard was in command to general albert sydney Johnston. They launched a surprise attack on Grants Union army of tennessee. in midafternoon Johnston was mortally wounded, Beauregard took over, called off attack on final line to give his men a rest. Next day grant surprised confeds with an attack, confeds retreated to corinth and proceeded to retreat. He later went on medical leave without requesting permission and president davis relieved him of command, and was relaced with general Bragg.
