  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    The first continental congress met in Carpenter's Hall in Philedephia from September 5, 1774 to October 26, 1774. Every colony sent delegates to the continental congress except Georgia. They voted to ban all trade with Britain until the intolerable acts were repealed.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were fought in Massachusetss and were fought between Britain and the Province of Massachusetts Bay. These wars were the first wars that declared open armed conflict between Britain and the United Colonies. These wars were declared when about 700 British army regulars were given orders to capture and destroy military supplies that were reportedly stored by the Massachusets militia at Concord.

    2 Continental Congress
    The second continental congress met in Philedelphia and included representatives from every colony. This congress managed the colonial war effort and moved towards independence. This congress even adopted the Decleration of Independance. The second continental congress was established on May 10, 1775 and was disbanded on March 1, 1781.

    The Battle of Bunker Hill took place in Charlestown, Massachusetts on June 17, 1775. This battle was fought between the British and the United Colonies because the Americans heard that the British were planning to send troops from Boston to occupy the city. This British won the battle, but suffered many casualities because of it.

    Common Sense is a pamphlet that was written by the English-American author,Thomas Paine, in the years 1775-1776. Common sense was published and printed in Philadelphia and later republished in London. This pamphlet was written to inspire the people of the 13 colonies to declare and fight for independence from Great Britain.

    The Decleration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson in Philedelphia. The Decleration declared the thirteen colonies independent from Britain and was signed at by the members of the Continental Congress.

    The Battles of Saratoga were fought on September 19 and October 7 of 1777 and they took place in New York. This was a battle between the British and the American colonies. The British won the first battle, but the Americans won the second battle because the British surrendered. The battles started when the British were unable to go to the Connecticut River Valley.

    Valley Forge was the military camp for the Continental Army during the American Revolution over the Winter of 1777 and 1778. George Washington was the leader of this army.

    Battle of Yorktown
    The Battle of Yorktown was fought in Yorktown, Virgina in September of 1781. The United States and the French fought against Great Britain. They fought because they wanted independence from the British. This battle resulted in the Decleration of Independence and is considered one of the most important battles in the Revolutionary war.

    The Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolutionary war between Great Britain and the American colonies. The document was signed in Paris, France on September 3, 1783 by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and David Hartley.
