The National Association of Baseball Players was created as an amateur league for ball clubs acrosss the country. It was the first ever national baseball league.

The NAPBBP was formed as the first national professional league. This league was an expansion of the NABBP to compensate for the growing popularity of the league.

THe NAPBBP ended due to failing ball clubs as players jumped teams for more money. This was a problem as the higher paying ball clubs had all of the best players.

The National League was created by William Hulbert after the NABBP proved inaffective and was shut down. William Hulbert put an emphasis on clubs rather than players by organizing the rules so that teams had to play all of their scheduled and players could not switch teams for more money.
