In the 1600s, Europeans immigrated to what would become America later. They brought their Judeo-Christian ideals and created the colonies and those ideals influenced their government. They also believed in "power to the people" and they didn't want to have the government be overly powerful. Following the Magna Carta, they made the English Bill of Rights, which was created to limit the current monarchy and give the colonists rights.
