  • Bully On The Ship

    Bully On The Ship
    During the Journey, there was this one crew member that always put curses on the passangers on the ship. At this time, there was a sickness going around in the ship, the evil man caught the sickness and died. The Puritians claim that it was in fact God that gave the man this sickness in order to protect them. "It pleased god before they came half seas over, to smite this young man with griveous disease" (29).
  • Bad Ship Conditions

    Bad Ship Conditions
    During the joureny, the puritians ran into problems with their ship that caused them to question if they should keep going or not. They fixed the buckling of the main beam by putting a iron screw in it that luckily one of the passengers brought with them. After fixing the beam they decided to keep going. "So they committed themselves to the will of god and resolved to proceed" (30).
  • Man Overboard

    Man Overboard
    There were days on the ship where the winds were so strong and waters so rough that one day John Howland fell overbaord. Everyone was so shocked and surprised that he lived. The people on the ship threw a rope over board for him to hold onto as they pullled him up. He hung on to the poles of the ship and claims that God saved him. "It pleased god that that he caught hold of the topsail halyard" (30).
  • Dangerous Weather

    Dangerous Weather
    There were so many storms during the journey. The storms were very dangerous to everyone on the ship. The waters would be extremely rough, waves crashing over the ship. The winds would constantly blow the ship everywhere because of how strong they were. They all got through these terrible times by staying positive and thinking that it will all be worth it when they get to their new homes. "Get out of those dangers before night over took them, as by gods providence they did" (30).
  • Clueless to the New World

    Clueless to the New World
    When the Puritians first arrived at their new land, they were clueless as to what was going on around them. Indians from nearby, would come and steal their tools. They did not know how the indians felt about them being there. Then one indian named Squanto spoke english and taught them everyhting they need to know, brought back their tools, also made them friends with the near by tribes.
    "Squanto continued with them and was their interpreter and special instrument sent from god" (33).
