    The Scylla and Charybdis are important to the story of The Odyssey because the Scylla was responsible for the deaths of 6 of Odysseus men. The Scylla and Charybdis were more dangerous than the sirens.

    Scylla and Charybdis

    After their encounter with the Sirens, Odysseus and his men are then prepared to face their second challenge which is the Scylla and Charybdis. While navigating through the sea, Odysseus holds his course while traveling his ship through the Scylla's lair. During this time Odysseus and his men would stare at the Charybdis on the other end of the strait. The Scylla's head would swoop down and gobble six of Odysseus men. Odysseus and his men would soon manage to escape out of the lair.

    Helios Cattle
    Odysseus and his men would travel to the island of Thrinacia. One arriving Odysseus and his men would soon discover this island had housed a special herd of cattle protected by the sun god Helios. But, due to harsh weather conditions forced Odysseus and his men to stay on the island longer. As time went on Odysseus men became more dissatisfied with the food they had. Against Odysseus wishes, his men would kill and eat the cattle while Odysseus slept. Helios would later act revenge on them.

    In the Odyssey, Circe would be introduce as an immortal goddess that is demonstrated as another setback for Odysseus. Throughout the Odyssey, Circe would trick Odysseus and his men by turning Odysseus men into pigs, forcing Odysseus to succumb under her influence, and distracting Odysseus which forces him to lose sight of the goal in returning to Ithaca.

    Throughout Circe's time in the Odyssey many of the characters would change their emotions or their beliefs on others. Odysseus would become more caring due to his men being turned into pigs because of Circe. Later, Odysseus would be easily succumb to Circe because of him losing his men to Circe's dark magic turning them into pigs. The theme of this section of the Odyssey is looks can be deceiving.

    Aeolus- Bag Of Wind
    In Greek Mythology Aeolus was the keeper of the winds and king of the mythical island of Aeolia. In the Odyssey Aeolus gave Odysseus a favorable bag wind and a bag. Odysseus companions would later open the bag of winds and used the wind to bring them back to the island. Aeolus and the Bag Of Wind is important to Greek Mythology because he has a important role in the Odyssey. Homer described Aeolus as a mortal who had powers of overseeing and controlling winds.

    In Greek Mythology, Lotus-Eaters were a race of people living on an island dominated by lotus plants. The Lotus fruits and flowers were the main primary food that was eaten the most. It was also a narcotic that caused many inhabitants to sleep peacefully. Many Greeks who crossed the Lotus Eaters would usually find them sleeping. Lotus-Eaters are important to Greek Mythology because they have influence many fictional stories like the "Odyssey".

    The Sirens are important to Greek Mythology because they have been depicted to have lured sailors to their death with their beautiful voices. The goal of the Sirens is to lure men away from reaching their goals across the ocean by using death or causing sailors to become stranded.

    The Trojan War in Greek mythology was a war between the Greeks and the people of Troy. It began when the Trojan prince "Paris" abducted "Helen (wife of Menelaus of Sparta). Later, Menelaus then demanded for her return but the Trojans refused. Menelaus then persuaded his brother Agamemnon to lead an army against Troy. This conflict would last 10 years until the city of Troy fell to invading Greek armies, this action ended the Trojan War. The ancient Trojan War is important to many Greeks.

    The Cyclops were giant, one-eyed monsters; a wild race of lawless creatures who possess neither social manners nor fear of the Gods. They were also considered to be uncivilized and mindless creatures that attacked anything that wasn't apart of its race. Considered the sons of Uranus and Gaea they were the workmen of the God Hephaestus. The Cyclops are important to Greek Mythology because they were also considered helpers of one of the gods after Zeus brought them out of the underworld.

    In the story of the Odyssey the Sirens tried to lure Odysseus and his crew as they passed on to Ithaca.To do this the Sirens would use their beautiful song to lure and capture its prey. To prevent from being captured by the Siren, Odysseus would make his crew immune to the song by blocking their ears with wax and he would also have himself tied to the ship's mast so that he would not be tempted to land the ship.
