  • Ellen's parents, a young couple, and a older man come to Great Aunt Birte's funeral, German soldiers arrive, during the funeral, and try to check the casket, and Peter reads a psalm about "numbering the stars..."

  • Peter and Mama take the Rosens and the others to the boat and Peter asks Mr.Rosen to deliver a important package to Henrick

  • Mama doesn't come home from taking the Rosens to the boat and Annemarie finds her outside with a broken ankle.

  • Mama is found with a broken ankle and she sends annemarie to carry the package back to Henrick's boat

  • Annemarie is running to the boat and gets confronted by soldiers and their dogs

  • Annemarie acts like Kirsti so she can get past the soldiers and deliver her uncle's "lunch"

  • Annemarie gets a little bit of an explanation, from her uncle, about what is going on and why the hankerchief was important
