    Of Plymouth Plantation is written by Willam Bradford. William describes his journey to America. He explains how many people get sick, and how the first winter was very hard on the colonists. This story is important because it tell of the first people to start this coutry. "...know them to be sharp and violent, and subject to cruel and fierce storms..." (Bradford 63). This shows the struggle the people went through with the winter storm.

    This document is used as a vehicle to declare our independence from Great Britain. Jefferson writes all of the wrongs the king has done against us as a colony. This document impacted the United States as a whole, because this was the first time we became a true and free country. "Creator with certain unaliable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" (Jefferson 114).

    This speech was a last minute speech written by Lincoln during the Civil War. It was meant to show respect for all the men who had died on that batttlefield. This speech went down in history as one of the best speeches ever given by a president and is still remembered today. "The world will little not, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here" (Lincoln 388). This was ironic because this is one of the most memorable speeches of all time.

This is the first time a non fiction story had ever been written. "A hundred thousand people were killed by the atomic bomb..." (Hersey 1001) This quote shows the large amount of people who were killed.

    Maya Lin proposes her design of what the memorial should look like and she won the contest. Her design was putting all of the dead soldiers names on a wall that was stratigically placed next to a park. "...the area contained within this memorial is a quiet place meant for personal reflection and private reckoning" (Lin 1194). This quote shows how Lin was thinking about where this momument would hold the most value as a memorial.
