  • Elie first meets Moishe the Beadle

  • Elie sees Moishe back in the town

    Moishe has com eto warn the other Jews about what he had seen happen to his companions in the cattle cars.

  • what Moishe saw at the Polish Hungarian border

    Moishe said that he saw the Gestapo ordred all of the Jews to get off the train and then the Gestapo shot all of the Jews but Moishe got away with out them noticing.

  • The Jews think that the Russsians are close to defeating the Germans

  • The Germans arrived in Sighet

    The Jews thought the Germans would not come close to the town.

  • The Germans settle into houses.

    The Germans take up households and they even stay in houses that have Jews in them and they are oddlynice and they are not there usual angry Germans.

  • The Germans are there regular selves

    On the seventh day of passover the Germans arrested the Jewish community leaders.

  • The Hungarian police interfere

    The Hungarian Police burst intoevery Jewish home and it was henceforth forbidden to own gold, jewelry, or any valuables. Everything had to be handed over under the penalty of death.

  • A new decree

    Every Jew had to wear the yellow star

  • The Ghettos

    Two ghettos were created in the town. A large one that occupiedfour streets and a smaller one that extended over several alleyways.

  • Elie's father hadbeen summoned to a meeting

    Elie's father gets called into a meeting to talk about the town. The town was to be liquidated by tomorrow and transports would being the following day.

  • Jews put all of their belonings on their front lawn

  • The Jewish Police and the Hungarian Police called roll call

    The police called all of the Jews outside and they took a roll call twenty times in the blistering sun for the first convoy.

  • Elie's street got to move to the smaller ghetto before leaving the town

  • the rest of the Jews were put into the cattle cars on the train and they started to mov toward the camps.

  • Mrs.Schachter has gone mad and is seeing things.

  • The train arrived at the camp

    The train arrived at the camp called Auschwitz.

  • Elie gets separated from his mother and sisters forever

  • Elie has a new name

    Elie is given a number that he will be recognized as for the rest of the time in the camps: A-7713

  • Elie's block moved to a new camp called Buna

  • Elie gets his Kommando

    His Kommando is counting bolts, bulbs, and other small elecrtical things

  • Elie is beaten by the kapo named Idek and a French woman takes care of him

  • Elie sees Idek and a woman together

    WHen the Poles left the Jews got an off day but Idek toldthe to go to the depot and do something. While Elie was looking around he saw Idek and a young Polish girl half naked and he laughed and Idek saw him and Elie got punished.

  • Elie's punishment

    Elie gets 25 lashes to his back for soying on Idek

  • The Raid

    The Americans' planes flew overheadand bombed the camp but no one was hurt and the depot wasn't destroyed.

  • Sabotage at the Power Plant

    The pipel and two other inmates sabotaged the power plant and they get hung for it.

  • Elie debates if he should fast or not on Yom Kippur

  • The SS men tell the inmates there is going to be a selection

  • Elie gets some advice to pass the selection

    The advice was to run and to put some life in your body and to move around so you can get your blood flowing

  • They wrote down Elie's father's number without him noticing

    They wrote down his number and they will later have a decisive selection to narrow it down even more

  • Eli's father gives him mementoes for him to remember him by if he does not make the selection

  • Elie's foot is swelling

    Elie's foot is swelling and the doctor said that they would have to amputate the toes off

  • After Elie's operation

    After his operation he had heard that the Red Army was racing toward Buna

  • The blocks are being evacuated

  • The SS men made the prisoners run through the snow

    If you could not keep up you would be shot on the spot

  • After 20 kilometers of running they find a small abandoned town and they stopped to rest

  • They moved again and they finally arrived in the camp of Gleiwitz

  • The train appeared and the SS men piled them in 100 to a car and they left

  • After the train arrived in Buchenwald only 12 left Elie's car

  • The resistance came and freeded all of the prisoners and drove away all of the SS men

  • Elie became very sick and had to go to the hospital and while he is there he looks at himself in the mirror for the first time
