After appearing in the Milk Cup final Niel lennon was signed for Glenavon F.C. where he scored in his first appearence in the Irish League. He stayed there for only a year before being offered the chance to take his career to the next level.

Niels career at Crew alexandre lasted 6 years where he was, and still is, recognised as one of their all time greats scoring 15 goals for the side during his time at the club. -
Despite being a republican, Niel chose to represent Northern Ireland even though he had the option to take the field with the Republic of Ireland. Niel scored two international goals, both at Windsor Park Belfast and made 40 appearences.

Niels time at Leicester lasted 4 years. making 170 appearences for the side.

Having been a Celftic fan as a boy, Niel finally got to play at Celtic Park in Glasgow. He only scored 3 goals in his 214 appearences but is recognised as a Celtic Legend to this day.

Prior to a friendly against Cyprus, Niel was brought out of a pre match meal and informed that he had recieved warnings that if he where to play he would 'get hurt'.
This came, as you would expect, shortly after his transfer to Celtic F.C. a team largely supported by the Catholic/ Republic population of Northern Ireland. This is a secter of the community that would rarely support Northern Ireland but rather, the Republic of Ireland. -
Niel decided to retire from International football for his own safety.
Despite a number of attempts to return to the dressing room of Windsor Park, it was clear that some people didnt want him there, and therefore he never did. -
In 2007, Niel moved to championship side Nottingham Forest on a one year contract. He captained the side on his debut at home to Bournemouth which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Lennon missed a week of training in Novemeber 2007 due to family reasons in Scottland, he was then dropped from the team as a consequence.
