    Tim Mara, a successful businessman and promoter, purchased a team for $500. Officals believed that a team in a large market such New York was needed to make NFL alive. The Giants started off 0-3, but then went on a 7 game winning streak. One of their biggest games was on December 11th against the Chicago Bears when 70,000 fans attended the game. This kept the Giants in business.

    With the depression gripping the NFL, Tim Mara was worried that it would not only cost him his team, but his business hands over the day to day control of the team to his two sons Jack, who was twenty-two, and Wellington, who was fourteen. Wellington Mara became the youngest owner of a football team and began his storied career as a major player within the Giants organization.

    After 31 seasons at the Polo Grounds the Giants leave the crumbling old ballpark for Yankee Stadium. In their first season at Yankee Stadium the Giants jump out of the gate quickly winning six of their first seven games. The Giants would go on to finish with an 8-3-1 record, which was good enough to capture the Eastern Conference Title.

    Desiring their own home stadium, in 1973, the Giants reached an agreement with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority to play their home games at a new, state-of-the-art, dedicated football stadium. Later named Giants Stadium, it was to be built at a new sports complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

    The Giants compiled a 14–2 record in 1986 led by league MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Lawrence Taylor and the Big Blue Wrecking Crew defense. After clinching the top seed in the NFC, the Giants defeated the 49ers 49–3 in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs and the Redskins 17–0 in the NFC championship game, advancing to their first Super Bowl, Super Bowl XXI, against the Denver Broncos at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Led by MVP Simms the Giants would go on to win 39-20.

    The Giants would play the New England Patriots in the superbowl. They defeated the previously unbeaten New England Patriots 17–14. The play of the game came on a 3rd-and-5, with the Giants on their own 44-yard line, down 14–10, and 1:15 remaining in the 4th quarter. Manning dropped back to pass, but was surrounded by New England pass rushers. Escaping three tackles, he threw a long pass to David Tyree. This would set up the game winning touchdown.

    In 2010, MetLife Stadium opened, replacing Giants Stadium. The new stadium is a 50/50 partnership between the Giants and Jets, and while the stadium is owned by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority on paper, the two teams jointly built the stadium using private funds, and administer it jointly through New Meadowlands Stadium Corporation.

    The Giants face the New England Patriots in the Superbowl and are favored to lose. However, the Giants are able to pull off the amazing victory against the Patriots for second time in 4 years. The Giants jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but the Patriots came back and took lead going into the foruth quarter. In the end, the Giants came back to win 21-17.
