  • Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA)

    Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA)
    The Agricultural Adjustment Act is a United States federal law which helped struggling farmers by paying them subsidies not to plant on part of their land and to kill off excess livestock in order to reduce crop surplus and raise the value of crops. The act is still used today, although not enforced by federal, but by state law.
  • Tennessee Valley Authority

    Tennessee Valley Authority
    The TVA is a federally owned corporation created by congressional cahrter in may 1933 to provide navigation, flood control, and economic development to the Tennessee Valley, a region affected by the destruction of the Great depression. The TVA still exist today and still helps the economy of the Tennessee Valley.
  • Public works administration (PWA)

    Public works administration (PWA)
    The public works administration was created in the spring of 1933 by the Industrial Recovery Act and was headed by Secretary of the interior Harold L. Ickes. Its goal was to combat the Great depression by providing employment, stablizing purchasig power, and reviving the economy. Originally named the Federal Emergency Administraton of Public Works, it was shut down in 1944.
  • National Recovery Administration (NRA)

    National Recovery Administration (NRA)
    The National Recovery Administration was created on june 16, 1933, by the National Industrial recovery Act. It allowed companies and employees to work together to help set minimum wages and maximum weekly hours, and how much a product can be sold for. The NRA ended in 1935 due to its 2-year contract running out.
  • Federal Housing Administration (FHA)

    Federal Housing Administration (FHA)
    Created in 1934 as a part of the National Housing Act of 1934, the Federal Housing Administration is a united states agency that set standars for construction and underwriting, insurance loans made by banks, and other private lenders for home building. To combat the Great Depression it moved to improve housing standars and condititions by providing home financing through a system of insurance mortgage loans. This Administration continues to help our Country today.
  • National Youth Administration (NYA)

    National Youth Administration (NYA)
    The National Youth Administration was created on June 26, 1935. It was a part of the Work Progress Administration and focused on helping youths 16-25 with getting employed to combat the Great Depression. It helped young men and women until the it was shut down in 1939.
  • Social Security Administration

    The Social Security Administration is an indpendent agency of the federal government that gives an social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivor's benefits. It was created to give money to those in need and return taxes from the public. It still exist today as a federal agency.
  • United States Housing Authority (USHA)

    United States Housing Authority (USHA)
    The United States Housing Authority was a federal agency made in 1937 by the Housing ACT of 1937 and was designed to combat the Great Depression by Lending money to states or communities for low- cost construction. Its was ended in 1947
  • Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDC)

    Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDC)
    The Food,Drug and Cosmetic act is a set of laws passed by congress in 1938 which gives authority to FDA to oversee safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics. It was introduced as a result of the deaths of more than 100 patients due to a mdication that killed them. This act still exist today in a modified form and continues to watch over public safety.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act

    Fair Labor Standards Act
    The Fair labor Standards Act of 1938 is a federal statute. It introduced a 40 hour work week and helped establish a minimum wage for those sturggling after the depression. It also helped protect minors from opressive child labor. It still exist today to make sure fair conditions are met for workers.
