  • Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA)

    Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA)
    Renamed and revamped version of a Hoover Administration program, worked to help states to provide aid for the unemployed. Helped lower unemployment, and was replaced in 1935 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA).
  • Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)

    Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)
    Established as part of the New Deal to provide jobs for single males on conservation projects. It helped lower unemployment until it was fully phased out of use in 1942.
  • Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA)

    Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA)
    A part of the New Deal, an act put into place to stabilize farmers' financial situation and raise crop prices. The act was effective in that it started the US Department of Agriculture, a branch of the government still in effect today.
  • Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)

    Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
    A part of the New Deal, the government provided funding to build dams in the imporverished Tennessee Valley to restrict flooding and produce electricity. The agency still exists and functions today.
  • Home Owners Loan Corporation (HOLC)

    Home Owners Loan Corporation (HOLC)
    Founded during the Roosevelt administration as part of the New Deal to refinance mortgages to lower forclosure rates. Succeeded until it redlined and was shut down in 1951.
  • Glass-Steagall Act (FDIC)

    Glass-Steagall Act (FDIC)
    Put in place by the Roosevelt Administration, the Glass-Steagall Act created federally insured bank deposits to renew trust in the banking system. Many of its core values are still in effect today.
  • Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC)

    Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC)
    Put into effect by FDR, the SEC regulated the stock market to restrict buying on margin, so that the stock market would not crash again like it had on Black Tuesday. The SEC and its ideas are still used to regulate the stock market today.
  • Federal Housing Administration (FHA)

    Federal Housing Administration (FHA)
    The FHA was founded during the Roosevelt Administration as a government-based housing program to provice homes at low mortgages to Americans. It was widely successful and is still in use today.
  • Social Security Administration

    Social Security Administration
    Founded by Roosevelt as a cornerstone of the New Deal. Helped provide lasting financial support for retirees and allow them to free up their jobs for younger workers. To this day it remains a functioning government institution.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

    Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
    Set minimum wage to provide fair income for Americans. Established by Roosevelt, and stil a government-run, nationally used system.
