During his three years serving the Navy, he learned how to fly single engine fighter planes and took courses in aeronautic engineering. At August 1950, he graduated from the Navy.

In the Korean War, he belonged to Fighter Squadron 51, and was one of the youngest pilots. His job was to bomb enemy bridges, railroad lines, and scout areas. Almost 34, 000 Americans were killed.
