  *Folktales will be ntroduced using a Power Point presentation*Teacher will read the text, Storytellers by Diana Yurkovic. *From the story students will learn about Native American story telling and then they will create their own Storyteller doll using clay.

  Choral read Native American non-fiction text that teaches about a specific region. Then, read a related folktale.

  Students will close read the Read Works articles: Native Americans: Inuit and Igloos and write an informative essay answering the prompt: Describe how Native Americans used natural resources to provide for their own needs.

  Using their My Big Campus accounts, notes, and non-fiction texts, students will work collaboratively to create a Keynote presentation.

  Working with their table teams, each student will complete a Native American Matrix by matching the clothes, food, dwellings and artifacts with each of the four main regions, Northwest coast, desert, plains and northeast coast.

  Performance Task- All people share certain needs such as clothing, food, and shelter. Different groups of people have met these needs in different ways. After reading the articles “Native American: Keeping the Past Alive” and “Traditional Native American Homes,” describe how Native Americans used natural resources to provide for their own needs.
