After some changes,Jeffersons draft was approved on July 4, 1776, and the colonies became the United States of America. The Declaration was printed first in the Pennsylvania evening post and read aloud in Philadelphia's Independence square. Copies were sent to all of the colonies. The bell in Philadelphia's State House rung.

The Tready of Paris of 1783 officially ended The Revoulutionary War. The British were not in charge! John Adams, Ben Franklin, and John Jay signed the treaty that officially ended the war.
