    Scots were particularly well represented in the early phase of British immigration which began in the late 18th century. From the beginning, they were strongly associated with enterprise and entrepreneurial activity, being in the forefront of the timber trade. Although Scotland experienced unparalleled economic growth in the 19th century, there was widespread destitution caused by the demise of traditional jobs and the introduction of more modern farming methods.

For the strong Protestant Hendersons, church and religion was a source of comfort -this would take Edith Grace right to the end of her life.

    Canadians were an integral part of the Allied success in WW2. From the thousands who served in all 3 services, to those who contributed on the homefront through the war industry and their unwavering support, it can be argued that Canadian families were irreversibly changed by this conflict.
