  • First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress was a group of delegates from the colonies that met on September 5, 1774, at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They met to discus the colonies problems with the new British Taxes.

  • Second Continental Congress

    Due to a war being waged in Massachusetts as they declared rebellion from the British, the Second Continental congress met. This time, they began printing money and started making plans to defend the colonies working as one group.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    Drafted by john Dickinson, the Second Continental congress adopted this on July 5th and sent it to King Gearge on July 8th 1775. It was an attempts to demand the rights the colonists had while still remaining loyal to the British crown.
  • Prohibitory Act

    The British government passed the Prohibitory Act in an attempt to stop the spreading rebellion in the colonies in North America. The act istarted as just a naval blockade of American ports and outlawed trade with the colonies. The Prohibitory Act ended any attempts at reconciliation between the British and the colonies. It also acted as a Declearation of War.
  • Declaration of Independence

    On July 2nd the Declaration of Independence was voted on in the Continental Congress. On July 4th 1776, we officially declared the American Colonies independent from Great Britain.
