  • Old Deluder Satan Act

    Old Deluder Satan Act was the first law passed by the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The was passed to educate students not only in learning but through the bible as well. Although this was made because people believed all students should be educated to contained the growth of the nation their main concern was that students knew the truth about the bible so they wouldn't go to hell.
  • Formation of the New York Public School Society

    Formation of the New York Public School Society was a group of people that made it possible to have public schools. This would make it possible for low income families to have their children attended school
  • Native American Boarding Schools Open

    Native American Boarding Schools Opening in 1864 were said to take in Native American children to teach the the ways of the English. However we soon come to realize with was to erase their culture all together. They wouldn't teach them English, they would change their given names, force them into the religious beliefs of white people.
  • Plessy V. Ferguson

    Plessy V. Ferguson was the fight of "Separate but Equal". Homer Plessy was the vice president of the justice, protective, educational, social club. He helped in the fight against the Septate Car Act of 1890. This an act passed in Louisiana. This act made Black and White only zones in school, stores, bus carts, etc.
  • Smith-Hughes Act

    Smith-Hughes Act was made to peruse the education of more carrier focused classes. Before the Smith-Hughes Act created by Hoke Smith and Dudley Hughes people believed that an educated person was one that learned in old English and learned all about places away from home. Once the act was passed in 1917 by President Woodrow Wilson schools got funded to be able to teach more career focused classes.
  • Brown v Board of Education

    Brown v. the Board of Education was an act to have schools be non segregating. Oliver Brown was the main plaintiff in this case after he had to send his daughter 2 hours away to go to school. After the bored agreed that the separation of schools went against the amendments on May 17 1945. White only schools refused to allow black children they shut down completely. Forcing many black children to miss 5 years if education rights.
  • Little Rock Nine

    Little Rock Nine were a group of students that signed themselves up for an all white students. They became famous for there fight to combat the segregation going on at the time. However it was not easy as they faced much hate crime even having the police involved. The little rock nine were hey were Ernest Green, Elizabeth Eckford, Jefferson Thomas, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls LaNier , Minnijean Brown, Gloria Ray Karlmark ,Thelma Mothershed , and Melba Pattillo Beals
  • Title IX

    Title IX was a law that stopped woman and Trans people from participating in sports. This included profession, leisure and school sports.
  • San Antonio Independent School District V. Rodriguez

    San Antonio Independent School District V. Rodriguez was a challenging schools in Texas for there funding methods. A group of people came forwarded stating that the financial differences between schools was going against the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment. The meant that schools with a greater minority population was not being funded as well as schools with a higher white population.
  • Education of all Handicapped Children Act

    Education of all Handicapped Children Act was a time where students with disabilities were excluded from publics schools because they were seen as disruption to other students. They were put in clinic where they would never get out of and where they were "treated" for there needs. Julian Huxley created a divide between people by saying the disabled people was just " an extra body for the nation to feed and clothed but produces little to nothing in return."
  • Plyler v. Doe

    In the Plyler v. Doe case non documented immigrant children were not allowed to go to school. In 1975 Texas allowed schools to deny illegal children an education they also forced these children's families to pay for public school.
  • Sheff V. O'neill

    Sheff V. O'Neill was a fight to prove that there was a violation of the 14th amendment. There was segregation in public schools. There was a line between suburban schools and urban schools. This fight was to keep the equality of schools across cities.
