  • Computer

    The first mechanical computer was invented in 1822 by Charles Babbage. He made a better version later in 1837 but died before finishing. The computer has cahnged the way the world opperates and communicates.
  • Frisbee

    The frisbee started out as a pie company that delivered pies to colleges. Hungry college students soon found out they could throw the empty pie tins around in the air and catch them.
  • Telephone

    The telephone was invented by Alexander Grham Bell. This was a new way of comunication that changed the world as we know it.
  • Car

    The first credited inventor of the automoblie was Karl Benz. Henry Ford applied the assembly line to the production of cars which helped lower the price and make them more widely available to people.
  • Radio

    The radio was invented in 1985 with its intentions being able to communicate. later scientists experimented how they send messages back and forth.
  • 1910 - 1930 Great Migration

    2 million African Americans migrated from the South to the North. African Americans were trying to find jobs in the North. Even in the North African Americans were still discriminated. They left the South to escape racism and lynching.
  • 18th Amendment

    The 18th Amendment made alcohol illegal in the United States. This was the start of Prohibition in America.
  • 19th Amendment

    The 19th Amendment was the right for women to vote in America
  • Emergency Quota Act

    The Emergency Quota Act restriced the flow of Immigration to 3% of a country's population living in the United States.
  • Television

    The Television was invented in 1923 by a man named, John Logie Baird, in Hastings, England.
  • Immigration Act of 1924

    A US federal law that restricted the flow of Immigration from the previous 3% to 2% of a number of people from a country living in the United States. It overruled the 1921 Emergency Quota Act.
  • Black Thursday

    On this Thursday the Stock Market dropped 11% of its value at the opening bell on very heavy trading.
  • Black Tuesday

    This was the day that the Stock Market on Wall Street crashed. This started the 10 year depression in America.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt elected President

    F.D.R. was known for his New Deal programs, ending Prohibition, and being elected 4 times.
  • 21st Amendment

    The 21st Amendment made alcohol legal again in the United States. This ended Prohibition in America.
  • 1933 (state of economy)

    The US economy was in a crisis. The Stock Market had crashed, we were in a Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected President, and lots of banks were closing causing people to lose their money.
  • Hoover Dam constructed

    The Hoover Dam was consrtucted from 1931 - 1936. It was the biggest project in the nation at the time and was done by the Government. It was finished 2 years ahead of schedule and named after President Herbert Hoover.
  • GI Bill of Rights

    The GI Bill of Rights gave lots of benefits to returning World War II veterans.
  • Internet

    The internet can be traced back to 1956. it was first a form of communiation. then in the 1960s websites were created and it grew.
