    The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan on Christmas Eve. Their purpose was not to hurt the Afghanis but to help them fight. They were already previously in a "holy war"-a war regarding religion-with the Muslims.

  • U.S. Bombs Taliban

    After they (the U.S.) had been attacked by terrorists but in other campuses, such as at their twin embassies locatedin Africa, they had a new ugency to try to stop the main culprits behind the happenings. So they struck back by sending U.S. missles to bomb a Taliban military training campus in Khost Afghanistan.

    U.S. Launches War on Afghanistan
    After recieving an order from President Bush and clearance from Congress, the soldiers proceeded to advance with miltarial pursuit for Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban government, and all responsible for the September 11th attack on America. They started by bombing Taliban camps.

    With help of the United Nations, Afghanistan established a constitution. The constitution was influenced by the public regarding what would be in the body. It ruled that the government would be both Democratic, yet an Islamic Republic. On this date, it was finally appoved by an assembly.

  • Assination of Burhanuddin Rabbani

    Assination of Burhanuddin Rabbani
    The late Burhanuddin Rabbani had served as temporary president after the Soviet Union pulled out of Afghanistan up until Taliban took conquest of Kabul. He served as leader of the United Islamic Front for the Salvation of Afghanistan, an alliance fighitng the Taliban. Afghanistan's former president was killed in his own home, by a suicide bomber.
