    Born in the Royal Women's Hospital. He was the first born child of Valda and William Trenear. Three sisters and a brother followed.

  • Kindergarten

    Attended Kindergarten where he was described by his kindergarten teacher as: “….a very clever child, very quiet and often liked to play alone.”
  • School Days

    Attended Albert Street State School.Spent just 3 weeks in the first class at school, before being promoted to year 1. After just six months ‘skipped’ into year 2.Many of the children in the year 2 class were up to two years older.
  • Runaway

    Ran away from home at the age of seven. Walked several kilometres to his grandmother's house.
  • Pooooh Police!!!

    While he was in year 3, his brother slipped out through the back gate of their house and pooed in a police car.
  • New School

    In year 4, moved to Glenroy North State School. At the time this school had over 1000 students which made it the largest primary school in the state.
    Developed a love for music through Miss Coburn, the year 4 teacher, and joined the school choir.
    After moving to a new primary school, he spent many weekends playing with the children around the neighbourhood.
  • Snails and Skyrockets

    In his new neighborhood, each ‘Cracker Night’ the children would gather snails to blow up.
    Ian Bell a neighbour remembers, “We used to spend all weekend building forts and playing war games, there were 18 children in three houses, so there was always someone to play with.”
  • House Captain

    In year 6 was selected to become the Blue House captain. Was also selected to the position of Milk Monitor. In year 6, badly damaged a finger whilst playing, was taken to hospital where the dislocated finger was eventually reset after 8 hours.
  • First job

    At the age of 11 he delivered newspapers 6 days per week to raise some pocket money. Did this job for 3 years- no other paperboy had ever lasted this long.
    When high school commenced he began playing squash following in the footsteps of his mother.
  • First Honours and Art Award

    Received ‘Honours’ Awards for high achievement in English, Geography and Mathematics in first year of high school.
    During year 7 he had several pieces of Art Work displayed in a gallery in the capital city, sadly however these were thrown out by the school cleaners when they were returned to the school.
  • All High Schools Champion

    Tried playing football but found he was not good enough, so continued playing squash. By year 10 and only 13 years of age he was playing against men and winning.
    At the age of 15 he was voted the sixth best player for his age group in the state. And in his final year at High school in 1974, he captains the school team to the ‘All High School State Championship.’
  • Spider's Web

    In year 12 he played a major role in the school drama performance of Agatha Christie’s, ‘The Spider’s Web’ as a murderer.His good friend and ‘Best Man’, David Cunningham’ said of the show: “None of us had ever acted before, but we had great fun and met and made life long friendships.”
  • College

    1975 to 1977 were spent in college and in November of 1977 he graduated.
  • Premiership Football

    Squash had been the major sport in his life, but in 1976 he retired from top level competition to concentrate on football and three years later played fullback in the Premiership winning team.
  • Love and Marriage

    In 1983 he married and five years later saw the arrival of his son who was followed by a daughter in 1989.
  • Excellence Award

    In 1998 his work was recognised and he was awarded a ‘Teaching Excellence Award’ which was presented to him by the Governor of the State.
  • STOMP!

    In 1999 he began teaching at Bangkok Patana School. He attempted to set a Guinness World Record with 600 children playing a percussion shuffle.
  • Trekking

    In 2001 he and his family set off to trek the Annapurna Range of Nepal.
  • Asian Experience

    In 2003, he and his wife visit Vietnam and China and the Great Wall before returning home to Macedon, Victoria, Australia.
  • Retired......almost

    In 2011 he resigned from teaching in his school after 21 years. He was the Principal of his school in his final year. He had been teaching for 34 years!!!In 2011, he joined the staff of Garden International School teaching Year 1 and leading the GIS Olympic Stomp.
  • The end approaches

    In 2012-13 he is the Year 5S teacher and come July 2013 will retire from full time teaching, travel to Sri Lanka and India before returning to his home in Macedon, Australia.
