Gorbechev is elected to general secetary then president of the Russia. As leader he brought new life to the kremlin. While president he was a very active leader and continues to be active today(history.com).

Gorbchev was friends with yeltin when he was elected president. As president he put yeltin in charge of cleaning up the corruption in russia. Yeltin was demoted soo after but he had a ressurgance in which he gained great populartiy with voters. This lead him to be elected president against Gorbechev wishes(histroy.com)

Gorbachev visited the u.s.a to talk to the incoming president (bush) about political agendas. Also he met with the united nations to talk about political plans. Gorbachev and Reagan also reached an agreement to destroy all exsisting nuclear missles(encylopedia of worl biography).

After 9 years of fighting in afghanistan mikhail gorbechev decided it was to draing on the soviet economy to stay in Afghanistan. He then began to withdraw his troops from Afghanistan.

In october of 1990 he was awarded the Noble Peace Prize. He was awarded it "for his leading role in the peace process which today characterizes important parts of the international community".

While vacationing he was captured by a group of communists who were trying to start a coup. In the end the coup failed and Gorbechev came back to the kremlin wiht help from other politions(gorbachev foundation).
