    [-3] Canada did absolutely nothing to help the refugees. The Prime Minister didn’t want them in Canada because they were Jewish. He basically sent 937 people to their deaths.
  • Ugandan Refugees

    [1] When first called upon, Canada didn’t even respond to the cry for help. The Canadian citizens were the ones who pushed the government into stepping in. However, after responding Canada did help send people to go into Uganda to help people immigrate. Canada also set up 12 Centres to help with resettlement.

    [-1] Canada didn’t really do anything to help Chile. It only took in 1188 Chileans, which is less people than an average high school has. Not only did they take in a minimal amount, they only accepted the people who were neutral or didn’t have any real threat for their safety.
  • Vietnam, Laos and Cambodian Refugees

    [2] Canada responded with the acceptance of only 600 refugees, after they had been stuck on a boat for almost a month. It was only because of the public outcry that they chose to take a step further in accepting 8000 more. The individual sponsors were main source of refuge because there were so many volunteers wanting to help.

    [2] Canada responded right way to the call for help from Bosnia. Peacekeeping forces were sent in to help sort out issues and protect the refugees escape.
  • Syrian Refugees

    [1] The Syrians needed help in 2011. The public was not aware of the need until 2015, 4 years later after a tragic accident. It was only until the public persuaded the government to step in. If the government had made the decision to help the Syrians in 2011, more lives could have been saved.
