Courage
Just at the age of 15, Michael Phelps competed in the 2000 Olympic Games. He didn't win but at least he was well recognized since he was the youngest American male swimmer to compete at the Olympic Games in 68 years. This is something that probably frightened him at the beginning since he was too small but he faced his fears and decided to fight for what he really wanted. -

After loosing in the Olympics in 2000, Michael Phelps decided to keep on working on what he really wanted and in 2001 he set a world record in the 200-meter butterfly, he then became the youngest male swimmer to set a world swimming record, this all happened because he stayed commited to what he really wanted and because he dedicated a lot of time and effort to swimming. -
Persistent and Realistic
After creating his first world record, Phelps kept growing and growing. Because he never stopped training as hard as he was training and because he always believed in himself, in 2003, 17-year-old Phelps set five world records, and he was only 17. -
Big Thinker
In 2004, Michael Phelps started becoming everytime more and more famous. In the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece he won eight medals, including six gold. Phelps started growing bigger and bigger in a really short period of time. -
Decision Making
Just after a downfall Phelps had after a bad decision he made, he fastly picked himself up and went and gave conferences about drugs and alcohol to various High Schools. -
Accepts and Uses Power Wisely
In 2012, Michael Phelps kept increasing his olympic medal count to 22, setting a new record for most Olympic medals.
