Michael Fred Phelps was born on June 30, 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Fred and Debbie Phelps. The youngest of three children, Michael Phelps and his sisters grew up in the neighborhood of Rodgers Forge. He´s actually 30 years old.

At age of 7, Phelps started swimming, mainly because his older sisters, Whitney and Hilary, were swimming.

At ten, Phelps held a national record for his age group and began training with Bob Bowman.

Phelps competed in his first Olympic Games in Sydney, and at age 15 is the youngest member of the U.S Olympic Team. He finished fifth in the 200 meter butterfly.
