    In the 19th century China had major famine and political turmoil led many Chinese emigrate all over the world. Some of the Chinese went to Sinaloa, and loved to soil so they began to cultivate adormidera (opium gum). They started to make trade with the U.S, and it was legal. But then smugglers would take it out of the U.S to Mexico which was legal, but then would try to smuggle it back into the U.S.
