    On this day ,four major meatpacking companies bought lots of smaller slaughter houses all around the country. This gave these big meatpacking companies complete and total
    control of the country's meatpacking industry meaning that if there are any problems with the consumers only the four major companies can do something about it.
  • Meatpacking Union Strike

    On this day " The meatpacking Union in Chicago went on strike demanding better wages and working conditions " (Mp,2). With a strike the meatpacking bosses might be willing
    to the workers by maybe making safety procedures and and a livable wage.

    On this day in history Upton Sinclair published a novel which " described the horrors of the meatpacking plants in great deatial" (mp,4). This book will show the people how their
    meat is made and make them do something about it.
  • Pure Food and Drug Act

    On this day "congress passed the pure food and drug act prohibiting the sale of adulterated or misbranded food and drugs " (Gilder Lehrman timelines). This shows that the meat
    and the drugs will be known and healthier and the people won't mix up their medicine.
  • Meat inspection act

    On this day in history "congress passed the Meat inspection act to protect consumers from adulterated or misbranded meat "(Gilder Lehrman timelines). With an inspector, the workers will be more encouraged to make the meat better which will be better for the people.
  • Triangle shirtwaist factory fire

    On this day "the horrific triangle shirtwaist factory fire in 1911 made many legislators and politicians realize the danger of factory conditions" ( mp,2). Because of the fire ,people and the government started to care about workers in factories.
  • Time Regulations

    On this day the bosses started to "regulate the hours of workers in private companies "(us legal ). This will let the workers rest and sleep.
