Kristen's Growth

  • Kristen's Conflict

Conflicted with joining an activity out of school, Kristen feels inferior. However, she knows she must strive outside her comfort zones. So, she decides to join a reading club where others like herself share a common interest in certain novels. There, she does not feel inferior and feels more part of a group who shares a common goal. In Kristen's case based on industry vs. inferiority, she feels successful as a whole rather inferior knowing she has broadened her zones.
  • Kristen's Identity

Later in high school, Kristen knows she must socialize with others. To take action, she chooses to spend time with others who have their own idea of self-worth and who also encourage her to be her own person (identity), rather than being with people who conform by identifying themselves as others like a group based on popularity (role confusion). Based on identity vs. role confusion, Kristen expresses the innate desire for being her own person over conformity with others.
  • Kristen's Crowd

Kristen wants to encourage younger people. She decides to make an effort by helping others shape themselves by sharing her own personal experiences about maturing in schools nearby, (generativity) rather than keeping herself private (stagnation) since she knows the value of challenging yourself and being independent. Based on generativity vs. stagnation, Kristen uses her time to make an awareness using her own experiences to encourage others about the regrets of being stagnant.
