Slavery
Slaves in the year 1619 were used as property and treated with bad treatment. They were kidnapped and enslaved from Africa and sent through months of riding on a boat. Slavery should spread West because the South needs it. It caused tension because the South wanted slavery to spread West, and the North wanted to abolish it. Slavery was a major cause to the Civil War. -
Sectionalism
Sectionalism was caused by the Souths economy on making money of of Slavery and way of life. The Norths economy wanted to end Slavery and made money from factories. This caused tension because they all weren't seeing how America should end up in the West. Slavery should continue out West. Their should be Slavery in the West. Slavery had some extant on the Civil War cause of the North and the Souths perspectives on Slavery. -
Compromise of 1850
In the Compromise of 1850 was when California, a
free state with no Slavery and in other territory they were allowed to decide if they wanted slavery or not by the settlers. The South was happy that they had more chances of spreading Slavery and while having the Fugitive Slave act, and the North didn't have that. This lead to a some extent of Slavery having an impact on the CIvil war. -
Kansas Nebraska Act
In 1854 two states were split up into different territory and were letting the settlers vote for Slavery. This wasn't fair because popular sovereignty had ended the Missouri Compromise near the South. This caused tension because the North thought it was unfair because they had both states becoming a slave state. To further extant Slavery had major extant towards the start of the Civil War due to the Slave state voters. -
Battle of Fort Sumter
It started with us the South wanting to break away from the us and form our own country but Lincoln wouldn't let us be. This caused a fight and us the South gaining four states while fighting over Fort Sumter. This caused tension because the North gaught the president they wanted and the South not agree with the president they gaught. This had a minor extent on Slavery mainly starting the Civil War.
