December 17, 2016: Trust VS Mistrust
Matthew (age 1) is with me(his sister) at an unknown Christmas party and is only comfortable with me and our parents. The crisis in this event is that infants are capable of trusting another person because they feel safe and can explore the world around them. Without people the infant can trust, they experience fear and mistrust. -
September 27, 2018: Initiative VS Guilt
Matthew (age 4) was taken by his curiosity to touch unknown things in my room. He searched through locked cabinets of my supplies and did not know he would get in trouble touching it. The crisis in this situation is that toddlers curiosity to find something to learn about through senses,(initiative) can turn into being held back negatively. This can cause being scolded due to actions that are not okay to do(guilt). -
September 13, 2023: Industry VS Inferiority
Matthew (age 7) is holding an award for his third grade addition certificate. According to Matthew, his peers and teachers regularly praise him for his fast solving in addition. This crisis can fall under the stage of showing peers and the people around them that they are hard working and receive recognition (industrious) rather than being inferior and unmotivated (inferiority).
