Marcus turns 1
Marcus is one year old today. His mother has done very well this past year, considering his father was killed in a work accident only two months after Marcus' birth. Even with this, she has been able to provide for the family, and still be able to develop strong connection and attatchment with marcus and his 3 brothers. He is in stage 1 of Eriksons development. If a child is well loved and cared for, as Marcus is, he develops Trust, and if he is not well loved he develops mistrust. -
Marcus meets Susan
This day Marcus meets Susan who 9 months later join him in marriage, and later have 5 children with him. This is a very important day, because he is able to develop a very intimate relationship with Susan that would continue to grow throughout thier lives together. This intimacy makes him feel secure and able to develop other relationships with people. Eriksons 6th stage is where he is here. He finds intimacy, a close relationship, vs the alternative of isolation, with no close relationships. -
Marcus' retirement
This is the day of Marcus' retirement. His hardware store that he created has been wildly successful, and he is ready to enjoy his success, and spend time with his adult children and young grandchildren. He has a desire to give back to his family and pour into the next generation. He is in the 7th stage of Ericksons development where you wither focus on generativity, that is a focus on developing the next generation, or you are in stagnation, where you focus on yourself and your own needs. -
Marcus' death
Marcus Murphy has been made comfortable by his doctors, and is in his home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren, prepared to pass on. He has made his peace with God and his family, and is reflecting back on his life. Although he has some regrets he also has had some good times, and has accepted them as they are. He is in Erikson's 8th stage, and has the ego integrity. This stage is where you either accept the good and bad of your life, or are filled with regret and despair.
