    the Trojan War was against the city of Troy by the Achaeans after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus, king of Sparta. The war is one of the most important events in Greek mythology and has been narrated through many works of Greek literature, most notably Homer's Iliad. the Odyssey describes the journey home of Odysseus, one of the war's heroes

    Odysseus losses lots of men during this war. He also has this war going for many years and time with his family. We learn that his surviving crew were the best of the best and were skilled enough to survive the war. This location helps develop themes of loyalty and strength especially after coming from such a huge battle with lots of downfalls.

    Odysseus and his crew first encounter the lotus eaters in book nine. Not knowing how suspicious the free food was , Odysseus' crew couldn't resist staying because of this magical fruit. Many members took the fruit and Odysseus was forced to tie them to the ship and go on with the journey. The lotus eaters did not harm the crew members in any physical way but caused a dent in the crew members head because of the delicious flower.

    Odysseus losses the minds of some of his crew members during this encounter with the lotus eaters. Him and his crew learn to not take everything for what it looks like. They could also learn that somethings can be too good to be true. This show that the Odyssey has themes such as envy and the realization of real world.

    Odysseus returned to Ithaca with no surviving men with him . He was disguised him as a beggar. He spun the bow and arrow. killed all the suitors which proved himself to Penelope. Odysseus learns not to mess with gods for he losses all his men . He learns that he has to gain the trust of his family for being gone so long . He looses all of his men.
  • Charybdis and Scylla

     Charybdis and Scylla
    The crew faces Charybdis and Scylla, a giant whirlpool and a six-headed monster. Circe warns him what was going to happen. Odysseus sails to the right near the cave of Scylla to avoid being crushed to death in Charybdis. He loses six men to Scylla. They learn to trust Circe.
  • Helios Cattle

    Helios Cattle
    when the men came in contact with Helios the god of sun Odysseus told his men not to eat his cattle. His crew didn't listen and they died. the god of lighting Zeus sent a lightning bolt down and destroyed his ship. Luckily, this didn't kill Odysseus and he drifted to the island where the nymph calypso lived. Him and his crew learn to listen . He looses members of his crew.
  • Sirens

    Sirens
    Anyone who heard the sirens singing would die. Odysseus tells his crew to use wax in their ears to not hear the sirens. He had them tie him to mast to prevent them from falling into their curse. Odysseus was able to make it out the situation of the sirens . He looses nothing. He learns how to avoid the sirens.
