On Feb 11, 1934, Manuel Noriega was born. This happened in Panama city. Ricaurte Noriega and Maria Moreno were his parents.

In 1939, he got put up for adoption by his parents. He then got adopted by a school teacher. This all happened when he was five years old.

In 1962, he graduated Peruvian Military Academy. Here he got a degree in engineering. When he came home get became a subulientenat in the National Guard.

In October, 1968, Noriega and Colonial Omar Torrijos led a military takeover of the government. Noriega was in charge of destroying the radio towers so there could be no communication. Torrijos was important in the new government.

In December, 1969, Torrijos was out of the country. A troop of officers tried to take over the capital. Torrijos tried to fly back into the country but there was no lights on the runway so, Noriega lined up cars with the lights on to guide the plane down onto the the ground. When the plane was on the ground they took back control of the country.

In 1983 he became the general of all of the military forces. He had the power to oversee the elections. He was also blamed for the former president’s death.

In 1989, Noriega tried to stop an election before the results could show. This made the people angry and they made riots in the streets. Noriega sent out his men to stop this.

In 1989 the PDF opened fire on U.S. troops passing by. This started a war against Panama and the USA.

The battle continued and Noriega was on the run. many people were dying. In 1990 they found him and threw him in jail.

On May 29, 2017 Manuel Noriega died. The cause was hemorrhagic stroke. This happened in Panama City.
