Manuel Noriega also known as Manuel Antonio Noriega Morena was born February 11,1938 in Panama City. He was born into a poor family. Later on, he went to one of the top high schools in Panama and got a scholarship to Chorrillos Military School In Lima. -
While In Army school..
While in Military School,he was stationed in Colón when he rose through the ranks and got acquainted with Captain Omar Torrijos and the wanted to rise to his level of power. He was then chosen to be the chief of military intelligence.He was then known for his horrible harassment to groups of people and their leaders. He married Felicidad Sieiro de Noriega, whom he had met in the 1960s. -
Military and out of the military
In the late 1970’s he was known as the most feared man in Panama. Then when Torrijos died in a plane crash in 1983 Manuel promoted himself to general. After he was done serving in the military, the US captured him in an invasion. -
Murderer?
In the mid 1980’s Manuel got charged for murdering Hugo Spadafora. He canceled the presidential election and attempted to rule the puppet government. Puppet Government- a government which is endowed with the outward symbols of authority -
Joined the government of Panama?
Around the 1984 election Noriega joined and stayed with the panama congress and forest Law 20. Noriega took control of some of the most famous newspapers by forcing them to shut down. The government had also harassed and intimidated journalists and editors. -
Smuggling and getting paid?
Noriega also drug smuggled,money laundering. This guy named Kalish was preparing a ship of marijuana which cost the US $1.4 million which Noriega had agreed to put fake stamps on the packages. He was being paid $1 million to do this. -
Jail at last?
Noriega was sentenced to serve 30 years of jail time for the murder of Hugo Spadafora but then whenever he went to court they made him serve 17 years instead of 30 years for good behavior. When he went back to Panama he had to serve 20 MORE years in prison due to the murder. -
Serving at El Renacer Prison
On october the 1 2011 he was released from prison and sent back to Panama. He then went to El Renacer Prison to serve for a little while. -
Death of Manuel Noriega
The ambulance took Manuel to the hospital from the prison. Manuel was diagnosed with Brain tumor in March 2017 and had a surgery on it. Then he was taken back to prison and 2 months after the surgery he died in May 29,2017. -

After his death,some people thought of him as the greatest dictator of all times and other well they thought of him a different.
